Everyone is so crazy over weld ins... I have Competition Engineering bolt in ones. They bolt in down their whole length and you could weld 'em if you want. They clear the stock exhaust system. Best of all, I've already swapped 'em from another car ( my Dad's 82 Trans Am ).

88 IROC with cobbled together (not by me)drivetrain, 86 (?) TPI unit,CE subframe connectors, Edelbrock strut tower brace, polygraphite bushings all around...it handles like a dream, but man is it hard to push!!

Steve Spohn makes some very nice sub frame connecters that I would recommend to anybody. Check them out on his website.

Bjase, the problem with bolt in sub frame connecters is over time the stress on the bolts from torque elongate the holes in witch they are bolted through. When the holes get elongated the bolt in subframe connecters become useless.

I also think that the Spohn subframes are very good, but SSM also makes good connectors and have a good reputation.

well,

the spohn's are made for drag racing, if you've ever seen his site and the kinds of cars he builds then you know what i mean..

i'd recommend weld in hotchkis.

hotchkis are great suspension parts for a daily driver/street warrior.

I like the Jegs SFC on my convertible, they install right next to the factory body braces, really stiffen up the chassis, and don't have any clearance problems.

Wanna see my car go do some auto x-ing?? I bet I should be able to kick some 02 WS6 but once I get the shocks in my car. Right now I got the Spohn SFC's and I gotta say outta all the ones that I've see they are the best. They are made outta the biggest box steel that ya can fit under the car. Yeah it makes the car a lil bit heavier but the pay off is well worth it.

I've got global west weld in units. Much much stiffer and i didnt lose one bit of ground clearance and all exhaust systems clear them.

Global West. Easy weld in, no exhaust modification to my 85 IROC.

I've had both weld ins and bolt on. They both work. Just remember that whatever type you use that it is always better to spread the connected load out as much as possible for the best results. IE: more welded or bolted on brackets or tubes. I have a mig welder so I use that type tied to a 6 point roll bar and still looking for ways to improve stiffness.
