Any Z28, Formula, or Trans Am will have a posi rear end. The RPO for a positraction or Limited Slip Differential is G80. Yes, the 3.42 is the steepest gear you will find in a fourth gen rear axle. Any fourth gen F-body from 93 to present will have the option of having the 3.42 gear if it has the Manual 6 speed. In my experience, you will not need a different proportioning valve if your car has four wheel disc already. Otherwise you will likely need one (if you have drum rear currently). I also doubt that the fourth gen proportioning valve will work on a third gen. The other issue with going from rear drum to rear disc is the size of the master cylinder as the calipers in the rear will hold a lot more fluid when the pads wear down and the pistons are the farthest out of the calipers. The reservoir on a four wheel disc setup is larger to accomodate this.

Also, for a price range, I wouldn't pay over $400 for a complete rear (disc to disc). Check out www.speedautomotive.com for reasonably priced fourth gen rear axles.

'93 6 speed cars have 3.23 gears, '94-'02 6 speed cars have 3.42 gears. '99+ V8 cars have the Torsen differential. They won't take quite as much shock as the auburn, but the clutches don't wear out like the auburn. '98 rear ends will have the bigger rear disk brakes. If I were making the swap, I would look for a '99+ axle from a 6 speed car.

ya, i have drum in the rear and then disk fron of course, so i would actually get a prop valve from an Fbody,
how much do they run for?
