Hey guys, I need a SLOWER RATE box for my car, my 1990 IROC 12.7:1 ratio steering box will get me KILLED, so I need a replacement box to bolt in prior events like the PONY EXPRESS 100 and the SILVERSTATE RACE. ALL replies welcomed, thanks everyone.

yep they are out on Nevada highways. you have to aim for a ave. speed. ie aim for 135 thoughout the course but you can't drop below 90 or go above like 160. I thinking about doing those to as soon as I get the camaor tuned right.

I know my 88 RS (2.8L) has the slow 14:1 ratio box, so I may be somewhat correct in saying all the later v6 cars had them? Possibly the TBI 305's (RS) has them also...

Thanks Gentlemen, I will look into that. I think that the 14:1 ratio will fit the bill. BTW, I don't know why my webshots link isn't working with this site, but here is another link to it.

I might have a 14.1 box lying around from a 91 Firebird V6. Too bad it's not out my project car yet and I don't have time to work on my car right now with college and all.

hey.. looks like we will be doing the same thing. i should be *99.9%* in the silver state classic next year with my 86 IROC. the car is just now being finished *mechanical wise* and in 6 months after saveing more $$ it will be finished *safety wise* but so far the car "should" be hitting in the 185+mph range/ *again should because i have not had time/place to get it THAT high.* and for the silver state ill be dropping in 2.73's so i can play in the 210's good thing is its all emmision legal too.. i wonder if i have to tell the insurance company though? lol

Well if you're running with EFI and don't program your own eproms.....you won't make it past 110 in a TBI and 120-125 in a TPI car. The fuel cutoff speed is a bummer unless you program your own eproms.
