Are ceramic pads good when cold?

Most questions about ceramic brake pads have been answered but their cold performance. How do they fair? I have heard good remarks otherwise like good stopping power and ultra quiet. THanks

had them with my stock disc setup with no problems when the car was a daily driver here in michigan. have yet to put them on the baers but i'm about ready to as the brake dust with the baer pads are killing my rims.

They will be fine when cold. Brakes lose their coefficient of friction when they get really hot.

I remember reading that PCFM pads are terrible when cold.

Advance has them for 38 bucks so I'm going to pick them up sometime this week.

Is that "PFCM" by any chance?

As in Performance Friction Carbon Metallic.

If so, I just put a set on the front last week. So far, they don't seem bad at all when cold.

I searched for comments on them (after I installed... ), and the worst I read was dust on the rims.

Only bad thing i heard about ceramix is they arent good for heavy duty use cause they put alot of heat on the curface of the rotor.Ill be getting them for my 1LE's cause i dont do any track use and i want great street stopping with no brake dust.

I have the stock calipers and rotors, so my brakes are not setup for the track by any means.

Yes I did mean PFCM.

I have been using the PFCM z-rated pads for over 1 1/2 years now and I don't have a problems with brake dust of cold stoping. Used front & rear.

Good to hear. After running several days and not even seeing the rotors get marked yet, I was surprised to see people say they dusted their rims.

My 3rd gen racing buddy/co-worker commented a few years ago about his ceramics being less than optimum when cold, but I don't know what exact type or brand he was using, or where he got them.

Some campanys make cheap ceramix so you never know they might only use 5% ceramix and call it a ceramix pad.

Do you know about any of these?

What is a good % of ceramic in the brake pads?

Bendix $57.28

Bosch RBC154 $81.99

Friction Master CMX154 $36.88

Raybestos PGD154QS $59.99

Well maybe just cause i work there but at Napa we have product awareness meetings and they show our pads compared to evenones. They stoped better, longer pad life, less noise maybe a tiny bit more rotor wear but none ull notice. I think the bendix were second.
