Problem with the KYB GR-2 STRUTS or just my imagination??

I just recently installed a set of KYB GR-2 Struts on my '91 Camaro. After installing them a clicking noise developed. The noise is heard evertime I hit the brakes and is heard from both sides. The clicking noise sounds kind of like the strut shafts are hitting against the inside of the strut mount bearings. At least this is my guess. The original struts had a conical shaped nut that secured the top of the strut to the mount, however the KYB only came with a standard flat lock nut and lock washer. I figured that the conical shaped nut was to help keep the shaft centered in the mount bearing. So now that I am forced to use the flat nut I'm guessing that every time I hit the brakes, that the shaft is hitting against the inside of the bearing. I even purchased a set of KYB strut mounts thinking that they would provide a better fit and solve this problem, but unfortunately they did not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I installed the same things om my RS, no problems whatsoever....

I would imagine that the non-conical nut has something to do with it.

Did you install the same struts and if so did yours come with the conical nuts?

Check the top part of the strut cover. The peice that covers the top of the srtut when installed. Many times they crack from age, mine did, they make a similar sound. Replaced them with rubber boot for shocks, cost was 8.00 for both...
