upgrading from 15" to16" wheels

Ok, I'm going from the stock 91 15" wheels in the rear to the 16" Formula wheels of the same style. What tires should I use on the 16"s? Also I have drums in the rear, Do I need spacers? If so, what size spacers do I need? You're help is appreciated.

Pioneer DEH-7000R, Pioneer 6X9 4way/4X6 2way speakers, MTX 250watt amp, MTX 400watt sub, custom intake, Flowmaster dual exhaust 80 series, PIAA HID headlamp conversions, custom tail lamps(regular F-bird but amber is now red), many more to list...

The 16" aluminum wheels only came with spacers on cars with the iron drums. If you have the aluminum drums, you don't need spacers. If you have iron drums, I would suggest that you goto a junk yard and find some aluminum drums. They are 5 pounds a peice lighter.

So you want to have 15's on the front and 16's on the rear, right? The spacers aren't very thick, I would at least bolt the wheels on and see what you think. You could also put the 'front' offset 16 inch wheels on the rear--they stick out a little bit further. For the right look, the tire height on the rear need to be the same height or taller. I'm guessing 255's will do that.

------------------
350 with stealth intake, holley carb, 470 lift cam. 700r4 with .5 boost valve, vette servo, tci lock-up kit, B&M megashifter. Richmond 3.73 gears, powertrax locker, timkin bearings, synthetic lube. Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, currant red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

I would definetely mount the rims first and see. I had a 92 firebird V6 and I had my GTA 16's on it for about a week, I didn't have any problems with rubbing but the tire cleared the inside by about 0.50 cm.

Use the .170 thick spacers with the iron drums and 16" Alum wheels. This was GM's
stock aplication.
