Hey, J$, as you can imagine there hasn't been much on TGO that hasn't been asked and answered. As a consequence, a search is usually a good idea. Check the thread to follow:

I ripped everything out of the interior and engine bay that was not absolutely neccessary. Carpet, headliner, back seats, spare, jack, ac, heat, smog pump, ac compressor, cats, exhaust stopped at doors, interior plastic, passenger seat, tubular K member, tubular a arms, tubular trans crossmember, tubualar torque arm. The door panels and electric windows are all still there. With a small block it weighed 2900 pounds with a full tank of gas and no driver. With a big block it weighs 3000.

Lighter car accelerates, handles and stops better than heavier one.
It's a great joke!

Re: Dieting a 3rd gen

Here's the only pic I have of the interior. I left the dash in but I took everything inside it out except the gauges. Also there is a tubular K member and A arms in the engine bay now.

Re: Dieting a 3rd gen

Would you remove the Front Bumper? Leaving the cover I mean, 'cause it weights a ton.
Will it be Ok on a dedicated Race Car?

Re: Dieting a 3rd gen

The front bumper is structural. It ties into the subframe. I wouldn't just pull the bumper. I imagine that would hurt the rigidity of the front end too much. I removed mine but had a local shop make a tubular one. I forgot about that peice. It was a LOT lighter. This also allowed me to open up the grill and put oil coolers on the tubular bumper, and remove the spoiler on the bottom of the radiator because the car has a real grill now.

Thank you very much I didn't think about that.
The tubular one sounds right, thanks again
