Weird. Went to two dealers and neither can get a drivers side rear caliper hose.

The rear is off a 86 Z-28 with rear disc brakes. The guy I got it off of would not include the exsisting brake lines in the deal. I got the passenger side caliper hose. The Gm parts sevice could not locate the other side on the computer or in the parts books. i did notice that when I got the rear, that instead of a caliper hose on that side, It had a black box connector. One part screwed into the caliper and the other screwed into the hard line. I planned to just bend the hard line and screw it into the caliper but it is a different thread pattern. Can anyone get me this part number? I did order another passenger side hose to use for now. I can see why they are different. The emergency brake cable would interfere with the line. I don't have E-brake hooked up right now so that's not a problem.

Go to a NAPA, Autozone, pep boyes, ect and they will have one and it is going to be cheaper.

There is no hose on that side of the rear.i went through this exact problem with my 86 T/A and when I finally looked I realized only the passenger side had a hose. The driver side is hard lined to the caliper.

That's right that side does not use a hose.

The only problem is the male threads on the hose are 3/16". The threads in the caliper are bigger. That is why I figure he had an adapter there. It was a plastic box that the hard line screwed into. Then a bolt screwed into the top of the box onto the caliper. I would have just ran hard line but it wouldn't work. The end that goes in the T-block is 3/16" and I don't know if I can get hard line with one end being 5/16 and one end 3/16" I might have to install a 5/16" nut on one end and then flare it.

Trust me I tried most of them. The auto parts stores around here won't carry rubber lines or fittings at all. They just carry steel lines. I haven't tried Napa though. They usually can order stuff.

You're missing the banjo fitting. You'll need it, the banjo bolt and crushwashers. They're not a normal replacement item though, they're supposed to be included with the calipers, so I'd go back to the guy you bought the rear from. I don't have the part numbers handy, but if the parts stores give you blank stares, you can try a GM dealer.

By the way the threads on your hard line should be metric, not standard.

I recently went through the same thing, rear flex lines are tough to find for 87 and earlier rear calipers.I made my own braided
stainless flex lines. There are a few ways you can do it, but the simplest is to get a -3AN pre-fabbed hose and use a -3 to 10mm Banjo Adapter on the caliper end, and a -3 to 10mm bubble flare female on the other(at least on my lines, that's what worked)Technically, these aren't D.O.T. approved, but they work great.A cleaner method would be to fab your own lines without the AN adapters.Got all my fittings/line from Earl's and Aeroquip.

Rear calipers were the same from '84-'88... so if you can find an '88 hose, you've got the correct one.

I bought mine thru the "now merged with JC Whitney" carparts.com ... they were Bendix hoses, and should be available thru a "real" auto parts store (not Pep Boys or Napa or etc).

I ordered a flex hose from carparts.com,they told me it was backordered, then two weeks later I got a postcard from JC Whitney, telling me the part's been discontinued.
