roll cage

Good day people
Im inquiring on some info concerning a rollcage installation on a 1980 z28.
What is the best way to raise, level the car to ensure no bodytwist or slop. Thanks for any input.

park it on a known lever surface and use an angle finder to check several locations on the car, i use the inside of the door openings for fore and aft and the radiator support and rear deck lid for side to side. after you have the measurements jack the car up, support on jackstands and use plywood shims under the stands to replicate the measurements you had while the car was sitting on the known level surface.

Thanks ede!
I take it that the tire pressure's should also be the same. I should have metioned that my car in question is practicly stripped the frame is on the car everything else is off, im really concerned about bowing of the car fore and aft, where would be the best place to position the jackstand?
Thanks again

The suspension would be the ideal place to put the jack stands. The problem is that the car will flex while your moveing around welding in the cage. If you put the stands anywhere else under the car then it will flex in an unnatural position. It really needs to be put on a fixture for accuracy. This could be a jig (even if you made it) or a frame machine.
