Front rotors are SMALLER???

I have a 89 iroc L98 with 4 wheel disc. Not 1le though. My front rotor is smaller than the rear. Is that correct? It doesn't make sense to me. I have no trouble stopping normally, but under heavy braking, it seems to have trouble.

Front rotors are smaller to reduce unsprung weight, look at the number of pistons and the clamping force of the fron caliper as compared to the rear.
