I know it's highly recommended that the stock tranny mount be replaced but is it the same for the stock engine mounts?? Or will I be fine with just replacing the stock tranny mount?

I have both and they made a huge difference in shift firmness as well as keeping the whole thing pretty smooth (ie they wont give you excess vibrations like solid MM will)

 

Well, you'll get more vibration than a stock rubber mount, but less than a solid mount. It all depends on how much vibration you want to tolerate. I went with stock mounts when I swapped in my 383 just because I had poly everywhere else in my suspension. I get enough vibration/road noise/feel without adding to the din with poly motor mounts. It's more a personal preference thing, but think about it long and hard, because changing mounts out is a pain in the @$$.

I have the Moroso Solid Mounts on the engine and transmission (T5) of my 92RS.I've ran these for years on the street in my older (1st,2nd Gen)Camaros, and didn't notice any increase in vibration.It's more noticeable on the thirdgen,since the subframe's not really isolated from the body,but it doesn't bother me any.
If you don't want steel, I think the poly mounts should hold up for a long time.I have them in my Blazer and they feel as firm at 30,000 miles as they did new.

I just installed my new poly tranny mount yesterday and noticed a big difference not only in handling but in the shifts also. I think when I go to swap out my front LCA poly bushings for something stiffer I'll go ahead and swap out the motor mounts while I'm at it. Thanks for the help guys!!
