Hey Andy,
While we are waiting for the parts I have a question for you. (If this is not the right location for this question, please accept my apologies). My 1985 Camaro has 14 inch wheels. After I make the 1LE conversion, I need 15 or 16 inch wheels, right? Then there is the spare (I have a space saver). I was thinking about getting the wheels (and spare tire) off a 1985 Z/28 at some junkyard. Will that work? Any other recommendations? Thanks, and thanks to you and Steve for all the work you've done to get those 1LE parts.

I don't know if they fit under stock 15" rims; I have aftermarkets 15x7" (they look like american racing Outlaw wheels). I see no possible way they'd fit under 14" rims.

GM came out with the 16" 5star wheels to clear the 12inch 1le brakes.
No, they will not fit without a 16" wheel.
That is also why you see so many cars with 16" or bigger wheels now. They are progressively upgrading rotor size.

I guess i stand corrected
Sounds like the factory calipers have more clearance than most aftermarket

Maybe that's true of stock wheels.
I have 15x7 rims. They clear the 1LEs on the front just fine. I don't think I made that too clear on my original posting. I also want to stress that they are aftermarket 15x7s.

I have sevearl "sample fit" pictures of various 15" wheels on my '82 1LE Z-28. If someone can post them for me?
The spare tire question is a big one! I have not found a space saver spare to fit. The space saver spare from my '86 IROC-Z does not clear the front or rear calipers.I believe the only space saver that will clear will be a 16" from a fourth gen F body. But I have not tried this yet.

Actually, now that I think about it, the REAR calipers (aluminum 89-92) are a closer fit than the front because of the e-brake arm.

The Centerlines came on the car when I bought it. I changed them because I was getting tired of people telling me to "get rid of those wheels, and put the stock ones back on". The 1982 model cars did not come equipped with 15" wheels. So I located a set from a 1990 RS.Had them painted the base color of my car,and put them on.I think they look better myself.Sonn I will be installing a set of base color painted wheels from a 1991 Z-28 which are 16".I'll post some pictures.

The picture I used is of the "stock type"15" wheel. The original wheels on the car were 14" for 1982,&1983. The first time 15" wheels were offered was on 1984 cars. The pictuerd wheels are actually from an '89RS.

My '82 Z28 had 15" wheels. I wasn't the first owner, so they could have been put on by someone else, but I always thought they were stock. Also, the Camaro White Book says the '82 Z28 came with aluminum wheels and P215/65R15's.
Back to why I checked this thread... Are the 1LE parts expected to be available this month?

Has anybody checked out the "4th Gen Brakes" topic? The discussion is about adopting fourth generation Camaro brakes to the third generation. One contributor even mentioned adapting C5 brakes. This topic is in the susp/chassis/brakes forum, towards the top. I've already committed to buy some parts from Steve Spohn, but if anyone has any thoughts, I'd like to hear them. Thanks!

Will the alum spacer-saver, 10-spoke spare (RPO N64) fit the 1LE brakes? These came with some cars orginally equipped with 16-inch wheels. If anyone would like pics, please feel free to email me.

Hey AndyZ28!
Have you heard anything? I left a voice message for Steve and sent him an e-mail last week but I've had no response.
I'm editing this message because I just got off the telephone with Steve. Steve says that he is not dealing directly with PBR; there is a supplier that he goes through. The supplier hasn't returned Steve's telephone calls. So, as of right now, we are still up in the air.
