Pain in the A$$ A-arm
hey guys i've been doing some work on my maro and i had to swap trannies the first time i took it off and on it wasnt thaaat bad but today when i replaced my speed sensor and took all that off well when it was time to put everything back on...
finally after a lot of cursing and pounding i got the A arm back on.
i had 2 jackstands on the rear suspension area and the pumpkin was facing as straight as it would be when connected.
does anyone have a better idea of how to do this with less busted knuckles and profanity??

I imagine you mean the torque arm? They can be a pain to line up, a chisel or screwdriver can help to line the torque arm holes up with those in the rear end. Unfortunately, removing the torque arm twists the axle.

sounds like the torque arm, if you raise/lower the axle with the jack stand, the angle will change, and you will find the spot where the arm will just slip right back over the axle mount.

"A-arm's" are the front control arms, since they are shaped like a "A"

nice thanks dude and yeah i thought of that after i posted that lol. thats where i put the front ones too but what about the rear? the last time i did it, it seemed to work better because i had it on the rear suspension and the pumpkin didnt point straight up and i took the track arm off. but it seemed a lot harder to put back on.

seriously, put the jacks there, put the floor jack under the pumpkin, i usually jack it up by the rear most part by the cover, and now when you raise and lower the rear, the angle will change and you will be able to find the spot there the arm slides right on.
that of get it close enough and man-handle the pinion yoke up/down to line things up

Re: Pain in the A$$ A-arm
Put the jackstands under the frame of the car NOT the axle.with the stands under the frame place the floor jack under the rear axle and jack it where you need it.
