Shaft between steering column and steering box?

What is the tech name of it? I need a replacement and could not find one on Autozones site. Are these still available or is a yard replacement the way to go?

Lower steering shaft

I doubt you'll find a new replacement but you never know. A junkyard replacement is more likely.

Why does it need replacing? The shaft itself shouldn't wear out. The rag joint could be easily replaced.

If you do a search, you can find a thread on using the lower steering shaft from an Astro van that should be an almost direct swap plus gives you real u-joints.

Another name is Intermediate Shaft. I found a New one on Ebay, but it was EXPENSIVE. I think i paid over $100 for it. I should have just replaced the Rag Joint, but I didn't know any better.

Re: Shaft between steering column and steering box?

auto zone calls it a steering coupling, but you will need (4) 5/16-24 lock nuts and (4) 5/16-24 1 1/2 bolts
