Hey everyone,

First I want to say thank you to everyone who has helped me out here, my grandfather and I are rebuilding an 87 firebird and I have had many questions and purchased quite a few parts from members and I can't thank everyone enough.

I now have a few questions, mostly opinion based answers are what I am expecting as I have noticed everyone has a preference for their suspension. I have a V6 and one day will put in a V8 but probably not until the car is no longer my daily driver. I have purchased the following:

KYB GR2/excel G struts and shocks from a member here, 2000 miles on them or so
Eibach sportline springs (for a v8), basically new, again from a member on here
Wonder Bar, received from a member again who was very, very helpful in regards to all of my questions and such lol

So basically I know the springs won't lower the car too much because I have a v6 in it now and they are for a v8, I really just wanted the front-leaning stance and just to close some fender gap. I don't want anything too stiff as it is a daily driver but I did want a somewhat improved feel around corners and such.

If any one has any ideas or advice please let me know.

The sportlines should lower the car significantly. It might actually be to low for daily driving depending on where you drive (steep driveways, speed bumps, etc).

 

well I have a v6 and I believe the springs are for a v8 so I didn't think it would lower it as much?

 

He's right, I have heard at least one instance where they were installed and the owner said it was too low. They do give the car a great stance though, so Something else to keep in mind.

Good point. So the back will probably be the same height and front higher. That sounds like the opposite of what you want.

 

That does sound like the opposite. I thought the weight would disperse equally. The front's are supposed to lower 1.6 and the backs 1.3...ahh back to the drawing board.

 

its really hard to say with the sportlines. I;ve seen car totally slammed after installing them, and i put them on my car years ago, and it didnt lower it very much at all, that was my 86 with at the time a iron headed smallblock. So its hard to say for sure what will happen. Your probably going to have to give them a try and see what happens, or you can trim your stock springs a little and lower it that way.
