Floating

What have you guys done to reduce the "floating" of your cars? When I get on mine it feels like I'm in a boat!

Re: Floating

Floating at speed? A good place to start is the struts and shocks. What tire pressure do you run?

Re: Floating

all cars will float a bit until enough water gets in them, then they sink.... open the doors, it will sink faster

shocks and struts, good ones, not Gabriel's or monros's, cheep house brand ones either

Re: Floating

Make sure your sway bar endlinks and mount bushings are in good shape too. Upgrading those to poly examples is always a simple, cheap upgrade that helps stabilize things.

Re: Floating

That's where I was goona start with the shocks... Does the sway bar have anything to do with it? I know it feels as though I'm driving a 70's or 80's type Caprice... I hate the way it rises and then when I shift it comes down.....

Re: Floating

checkout the bushes and front top mounts as well. As rubber degrades it allows for more movement which can result in a vague and generally sloppy feeling car

A quick note I've got gabriel shocks on my GTA (previous owner) - I've put some bearing top mounts, choice poly bushes and a strut brace and I must say the car feels tight. It does bounce about a little which the konis I have sitting should cure but it turns sharp and the ride is firm - I guess my point is that these cars didn't 'float' when they were new so if you just wanna cure this and get it back to factory spec - you may not need to fork out the coin for some konis

good luck - hope you sort it>>
