Factory Vs Eibach springs - question! help please...

Hey fellas I have an 89 Iroc. First and foremost I don't know if it was previously lowered. A couple days ago we changed the rear springs, which I'll assume were factory, and when compared to the 1" lowering Eibach springs which I purchased, the Eibachs were actually taller!! Is this common? Perhaps the Eibachs are taller but have less resistance?

Also, how long before the new springs actually settle? We'll will install the front springs as well, later next week.

Thanks guys....

Your springs were sagging from age, The springs will settle after a couple good bouncy rides.

After how many miles would you say? 20? 50?

I see. I have around 20 miles so far, and the rear height is pretty much the same. Hopefully it lowers more. Thanks.

they dont settle..they may re-position themselves into a niche but they dont "settle"

not sure why the new ones would be taller though..

are you running the isolator on your springs? (the rubber piece)

I would take the isolator out and use some tubing or hose that will be and inch or so

Hey there leedavidallan. A premium spring like your Eibach is designed to "not settle". As mentioned above, where it's at is where it's probably going to stay. Did you buy the equivalent springs for the front as a set?

Yes, but totally unlike the rears in design. See the link below for a pic:

Before my original rear springs came out, I measured them. The rear left was 1.5" shorter than stock height. Passenger side wasn't as bad (0.25").

The Eibachs are a 1" lowering spring. So had I gone Eibach, my ride height would have gone up on the left side and down on the right side. Leveling out the combined sides.

Long story short, old springs get shorter over time.
