SFC Vs K-Members

This might sound like a bone-headed question, but would i be able to upgrade my K-Member after welding in some sub-frame connectors? The Front end would need alot of work and i was wanting to get some paint on the car and do the body work before i started screwing with the front suspension. Right now it's been refreshed, but i want to do SO MUCH more. I intend to send the car to paint minus the engine and interior. just a roller. There, i was hoping i could have the floors repaired and SFCs installed. Then when I get the car back, I could install my new K-Member and Engine along with a new harness and interior. What do you guys think? Do i have my Priorities screwed up, or am I on target?

Re: SFC Vs K-Members

Hey 383. You can do the SFC's first then K-member later. As luck would have it we're finalizing our new K-member right now.

One detail: We recommend having the car fully loaded when final welding the SFC's as it's going to be when you're running it. You don't want to weld something in then lower or settle the car and have it bind up.

Good luck with your project. Let us know how you make out.

Re: SFC Vs K-Members

the subframe connectors dont attach tot he k-member, but there will be no issue there.

However, like Ramey mentioned, the car should be sitting with the suspension loaded, or supported and squared/leveled properly before welding in the SFC's. The idea is not to weld the braces in with the car sagging or twisted a little, because it will stay that way after welding

Re: SFC Vs K-Members

SFC first. The stock K-member will do fine for now.

The k-member is bolted to the front subframe. It doesn't care if you have SFC or not and can be replaced at any time. All third gens need SFC first.

That DOES make it outrageously easy on me. I can have the floors repaired and the SFCs installed, then rip everything out and send it to paint as a roller. When it comes back, i can throw on the new K-Member. Now all i have to do is wait another 10 Months or so until i rotate out of Afghanistan. By that time, i should have money to burn. Hows that for dedication? I went to Afghanistan so i could have the money i needed to fix up my third gen.

Re: SFC Vs K-Members

Hey guys.

We are working on the K-member right now. Actually I'm typing now but...

Anyway, the jig is around 75% complete. Our next step will be to check our prototype unit on the jig then bolt it in the car. Our goal is to have it road and track tested (the fun part)and in-production by the Thanksgiving sale. We are also working on a coilover kit for that application.

Oh, and 383 Power, thanks for your service to our country. Our Made in USA welders and fabricators here appreciate it too. Stay safe and we'll look forward to your return home.

Re: SFC Vs K-Members

Hey ls1. Stock style springs and UMI arms will indeed fit.

The design for the k-member includes provisions for stock springs and also convertible to coilover by removing the bolt-in perch.

Thanks for your interest. Ryan will be posting update on Facebook as we make progress.

Hey 6. Yes indeed, we are working on LSx mounts in addition to standard. Glad to hear you're excited for it.

Look for Facebook updates soon. Ryan has been out snapping pics every so often.
