Strut mount problem?
I was going to look at my strut mount to see if they need replaced but I can't seem to figure out how to get the cap off so how do I do it? I started to tear the cap up with my screw driver

Re: Strut mount problem?
Can I get new ones from like zone or do I have to special order them? I just wanna check the bearing. Also is there anything special I'm looking for while looking at the bearing?

A small flathead to get under there and pry it off. Putting it back on, it may just snap in. It may take a minute to get the thing lined up right. Once it's off, you'll see what I mean.
The bushing will probably be fine. It's the rubber surround that you need to look at (torn, hole in it, etc)

ill try a smaller screwdriver, i know im getting a sound from up around the strut area but i cant tell if its the strut or the strut mount. i know both are originals so it probably wouldnt hurt me to replace both but i wanna save alittle cash lol

Yeah Brother, If you got quite a few miles on her that upper strut bearing is probly toasted. Remember to mark thier location with tape before you take them off. You'll still need an alignment. It's not a hard job though.

Yray she's got of miles on her, over 300k lol. I'll just have to see how my expense is when I place my order on rockauto for my struts.

Re: Strut mount problem?
I put KYB's on my 88 IROC, they were affordable. It really made a difference, the originals went 100K. I was thinking of Founders for the 89.
