adjustable lower control arms and torque arm

i have some craigslist deal for a "get this" new adjustable panhard bar and slightly used adjustable lower control arms for 100 bucks. besides the springs do i really need the lower control arm relocation brackets with the adjustable control arms.

ohh and just though of this. i just completed my LS1 swap and i had to buy a cross member for my 4L60E. well it came with the torque arm relocation kit where its mounted to the tranny cross member and has slots to move the location up or down. do i still need the adjustable torque arm.

how do you adjust these components or should i leave it to the alignment shop....thanks for the help

You don't need new springs to install those adjustable parts nor do you need LCARBs. To adjust them, match the LCAs up with the stock LCA length to start with & for the PHB, start with matching it to the stock PHB length then adjust it for axle center after it is on the car & the car is back down on the ground.

Re: adjustable lower control arms and torque arm

Good morning guys.

Do you have the stock height springs in the car? If so, you won't need relocation brackets. Unless you need more forward bite at the strip, then you can use them with stock height springs.

Also, if you haven't lowered your car, just check the driveshaft and pinion angle of your stock components and set the adjustables to the same angles. If you are having traction issues you can dial the nose down one half degree and evaluate.

Good luck with your project.

Re: adjustable lower control arms and torque arm

i have stock springs in now but i want to lower it 1 1/2 inches( maybe less). i was reading some of the STICKIES and nothing is mentioned on adjustable lower control arms.
also it reminds me i read a tech article in the low-rider magazine about 2 yrs ago. those guys had the issue with too much camber when the hydraulics are compressed or expanded and what they did to correct the problem was to cut the front lower control arm in half after the spring holder closet to the ball joint. then they grind about 1/2 inch more or less from the spring side then weld them back together and make them look stock. its wild but it may work.
since i can find the front lower control arm easy i wont chop my originals on there now but ill give it a shot. i wont have an update until around febuary 2012. ill have the time to do it then.
Ideas anyone.

Umm, no. What works for a lowrider with hydraulics isn't what will work anywhere else. don't cut the front arms.down, that's pointless. If anything they could be better longer. Leave the front alone.

Unless you are thinking about cutting the rear arms, in that case, don't cut them either. You will waste so much time and effort trying to square the rear axle with cut arms. The whole.concept seems like a disaster. If you need adjustment in the rear arms, buy or build adjustable.arms, don't try to cut and weld
