I ran V6 front springs in mine for years before finally installing some Moroso trick springs.

Re: small block to big block what coil springs

My car has had a BBC since 2001. I only raced with a SBC for 2 years.

I'm using the BBC trick springs but could probably use the SBC springs as my nose weight is roughly the same as a factory street car with a SBC. The car still sits low enough as I scrap the spoiler loading into the trailer.

Springs hold up the car to ride height. How much spring you need depends on how much weight it needs to support. A BBC is roughly 150 pounds heavier than a SBC. Install some aluminum heads and intake and it's closer to 50 pounds heavier. It's not like you're adding an extra 500 pounds to the car by swapping the engine.

Re: small block to big block what coil springs

I never knew there was that little difference between a big and small block I always thought it was at least 200 hundred pounds.
My car with no motor in it seems to sit lower than I would think it should.
The previous owner had a small block in it and suggested that I put the heaviest 6 cyl. spring I could find. I know that when I picked the car up the ground effects drug going on and off the open trailer I was using and that was without a motor in it. This car is a former super stock GT car so I don't know if they would have lowered it for some reason or not. Do you have a part number for the springs you are using by chance?

::thread hijack::

What springs should I use in a stock Camaro that I plan to put BBC in to keep stock height and be used as a street car not a drag car?

I have a set of Moroso Trick Front Springs, Could i use those for normal driving or should those be used strictly for drag?

the weight difference becomes even smaller when you factor in all the stuff that you remove when doing the swap- you will likely ditch 100 pounds of AC stuff as well as a bunch of wires, hoses, and other accessories when you swap the big block in... it's not inconceivable that the car winds up weighing about the same as when you started...

Re: small block to big block what coil springs

I'm surprised nobody posted Moog 5662s, though I'd try the 5664s because they should give better handling, especially with that much weight.
