upgrade questions

I finally sold my truck so I'm gonna get some well needed upgrades. I'm planning on buying the eibach springs, adjustable panhard bar, steering box, shocks and struts and of course a fuel sending unit

Now my question is do I have to get any specific shocks/struts with lowering springs or could I get away with the KYB gas-a-just(in the back) and GR-2(in the front)

88 TA

Re: upgrade questions

The KYBs are a good replacement for worn out stock shocks and are a good budget option. Not knocking them, that's what I've got on my own setup.

If you're going for performance, Koni tends to be the common setup around these parts.

Re: upgrade questions

I was looking at koni, but they're pretty "up there" in price

I mostly just want better ride quality, I still have the stock struts in it and Monroe sensa-trac's in back and i believe the stock back shocks were more comfortable......I'm never going Monroe again

Re: upgrade questions

Monroes are going to be softer than the KYBs; if I remember right, the KYBs are somewhere around 10-15% stiffer than OE

Re: upgrade questions

I have that setup on my car too. It rides real nice. But still doesn't handle like some of my buddies cars with better shocks/springs.

Re: upgrade questions

Ok because I'm looking for more ride quality than performace at the moment

Also, when you lower it is there anything thing else I need to get? Originally I was told all I need is an adjustable panhard bar, but a guy at work said I'd have to get the adjustable rear control arms, torque arm, aftermarket A arms in the front etc

Re: upgrade questions

lowering 1-2" with springs won't require any of that; just the phb to center the rear under the car

you may need to check the angle of the LCAs depending on how much you lower things; you MAY need relocating brackets

I will try to get some pics for you today. Along with some of my upgrades that made a huge difference.

Yea i had my eyes set on the on-car adjustable panhard bar and the non-adjustable control arms
