Umi k-menber + a-arms or Bmr k-member and a-arms?
hi.
I´ve heard that bmr are good stuff, but now i´m just qurious wich k-member i´m gonna use? the umi k-member seems to be really stabil. and the price is almost 100 dollars in difference. so wich would you recomend. it is the quality that counts, not saving around 100 dollars

Because of fitment and because the umi has some nice options like adjustabe steering stops, dowels on the K member and I like the double low tube on them

I have a BMR k member in my car and it works great. never had a problem with it. bolts in extremely easy. has quality welds and looks very nice.

The UMI package offers much more than any other brands (except SPOHN's a-arms have adjustable bushings, but not needed unless you really need to change geometry in such a way that only cars with wider wheels would really benefit from).
The k-member looks to be very solid and has provisions for the stock triangle bracing that reinforces the k-member further. It has very good clearance and if converting to an LSX one day all one needs to do is change the mounts (I THINK this is correct.. please correct me if I'm wrong on this one). They are going to be releasing a road race k-member which is going to be slightly heavier but will feature much more reinforcement. I don't know how but they have said they are working on it, and that is what I'm waiting for (dropping in a 383 alum. headed stroker at the same time).
The a-arms have so many features, 86TA did a write up not too long ago and posted his findings, which IMO were very very cool. That thread is here: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/susp...new-style.html

Re: Umi k-menber + a-arms or Bmr k-member and a-arms?
Thanks guys. Our LSx adapter bolts right to the SBC classic mounting pad. And the k member is physically the same otherwise. You can switch back and forth with the same k.
Bear with us and we'll let you know when the RR version is ready.

Re: Umi k-menber + a-arms or Bmr k-member and a-arms?
I have always been a big fan of UMI....I bought a bunch of stuff for my ex's 00 WS6. You can see the quality in there work...
BMR would be my 2nd choice, their stuff is just as good...
Now my delema....I live about 45 min. or so from BMR and I have a friend that works there, and he said he could get me anything I want 25% off list price (cash of course).....They both make quality parts but I could save $130 off the K-member not to mention all the other stuff that I will need...
What do you guys think........

Re: Umi k-menber + a-arms or Bmr k-member and a-arms?
Here is a detail, for LSX applications:
A/C compressor needs to be moved to fit on the UMI. Will mount in stock F car location on the BMR unit.

Re: Umi k-menber + a-arms or Bmr k-member and a-arms?
http://www.umiperformance.com/catalo...roducts_id=624 does this work work sbc engine motor mounts? it doesen´t seems to be onyl for lsx or am i wrong?
Re: Umi k-menber + a-arms or Bmr k-member and a-arms?
The base k-member works with SBC. The LSx k-member is the base plus a special adapter mount. No matter which initial part number you purchase, it's quick and easy (and inexpensive) to convert to SBC/LSx/Big springs/Coilovers...

Can not say for sure, but it looks like close, but no cigar.
I have a BMR K and had to get BMR A Arms- sold the Spohns I had (long story).
It was a clearance issue (brace bar away from attachment points). Viewing pics of both items, the BMR looks to have a bit more room. I bet it is needed.
