Power steering issue

I got a issue with the power steering with my car. I have a LS swap in my car and went to do the power steering to get the air out of it and it didnt work at all.

I jacked the front end and went lock to lock 30 times and still nothing. drove around the block a few times and still nothing

when I take the cap off you hear a suction sound but im stumped as too what is the issue.

Anyone have a idea what it is? Thanks

Re: Power steering issue

Anyone have a idea what issue I could be having with it. I just don't want to be replacing parts if I don't have to

Re: Power steering issue

power steering pumps generally should work fine after 10 clock to clock movements. so now just troubleshoot, lines hooked up correct?, leaks?, pump making pressure?, bad steering box? the list goes on u can also disconnect the high pressure line from steering box and start car for like 2 seconds to see if pump is pumping. I honestly cant draw conclusion until you have more info so try some of the troubleshooting

Re: Power steering issue

Lines are hooked up correctly as it was the first thing I checked. Havnt seen any leaks at all and its on clean cardboard to see if it is. I will double check it tomorrow. I assume I'm making pressure as when you take the cap of its making a pressure relief sound when you undo it. Steering box was in my last car and it worked fine then with no leaks. I will double check everything in the day tomorrow.

I just want to nake sure the pressure line from the pump to the box goes in the hole closest to the nose of the car and the return is the hole closest to the firewall. Correct? I was told that was the way they go

Re: Power steering issue

Ok i swapped the new pump in and the same thing. Swapped the linesand that didnt work. The only thing left is the steering box but Ive never heard of one failing ever. Most people just swap them for the quick ratio IROC ones. I guess I will have to try the box unless someone whos something else to try

Re: Power steering issue

Are you topping off the power steering pump fluid level after you go clock to clock.
