Need help with front suspension please

I have included some pics to make this a little more easy. The silver springs that were originaly in the car are about an inch lower then the new MOOG oem replacement springs. Im worried that it will make the car sit to high. I want the ride height I had when I got the car but with the car being stripped Im not sure where I will be when its all said and done. Also having a hell of a time getting these new springs to compress enough to get in. I might have to rent a different tool or get them banded (If shops still do that). Also it is very tough to get the sway bar attached with no weight on the car, Is there any tips or tricks I should know about now before I get pissed off again trying to put this front end back together, like an order of operations? Any help would be appreciated. I have some Founders CC plates on the way and will be back to the garage soon. Also I dont know about these shocks I got. First off I dont like the color but most importantly Im concerned with the silver shaft not being protected with anything, did not get no nuts for the shaft to mount either? wtf Im stressed...

Re: Need help with front suspension please

After doing alot of research I may take these back and get some Eibach springs, I didnt really want to lower the car because these cars are low already, but it seems as if EVERYONE has these in their 3rd gens. I might as well join the crowd. Not to mention the red springs would look really nice with my torch red paint.

Re: Need help with front suspension please

Im just going to go to the local suspension shop and ask what they think. I cant get no answers and its a holiday. I still dont want to lower the car. I like the stock height look and to be honest I cant afford 800 bucks for konis much less 350 for a set of Eibacks. I have 4 grand in this car already and its just a striped painted shell .

Re: Need help with front suspension please

You have 4 grand in your chassis but you won't spend less than 1000 for good suspension?

Re: Need help with front suspension please

Not really when every part going back on is brand new. I cant see paying 800 for one set of front shocks to put in a car I am just going to cruise around in. Im gokng for looks and sound more then performace. We dont have twisty mountain roads here anyway. Its flat and straight. And furthermore Im gonna have about a grand in the front suspention as is.

Re: Need help with front suspension please

How do you have a grand in frt susy with out shocks?
If you really do only care about looks, ok, but even on straight roads a crappy ride would bother me.
I'm not trying to give you a hard time, just trying to figure out your budgeting.

Re: Need help with front suspension please

First of all, skip the Eibach lowering springs. To me that's a lot of money for nothing more than lowering. You get all the performance with better comfort with the Moog springs.

As for the Moog springs. Send those back and get the Moog 5662 front springs that everybody (including me) gets. My ride heights are measured in the other thread (Moog 5662/5665 + Koni thread). If you have a heavy V8, I see no reason in getting 400 lb springs when the 700 lb springs are the same price and designed for the same car.

Don't worry about the shock color. Mine are yellow. I don't see the color unless I jack up the front end (enough to lift the strut's dust boot up).

I agree that Konis are very expensive. That's why I did the rears first and waited a few months to do the fronts. Even then, it was still expensive. I will say that GOOD struts/shocks are my favourite modification. Even for day to day driving. I live in Houston. No mountains here. But struts/shocks are as far as I'm concerned, the biggest noticeable upgrade when it comes to suspension. I'd spend the money there and skip on other stuff (like lowering springs)

Since you already have the KYB shocks, might as well keep them. As long as you're not running around on original worn out struts/shocks, you'll be fine.

Re: Need help with front suspension please

The silver springs in free height are an 1" lower yes, but they are a heavier guage wire and a steep coil angle with less winds which makes it a much stiffer spring then you new Moog spring shown.

secondly- do NOT hook up your swaybar until you have the car all back together. You are just putting unnecessary strain on your way bar endlink bushings and deforming them into the wrong position until the car comes down to proper ride height.

Re: Need help with front suspension please

Wow. Heck yea thats alot of good info there. Thank you so much for the advice guys. Thats exactly what I needed to hear. This will take some of the guesswork out of everything. I just thought the 5662 would make it ride rough.

Re: Need help with front suspension please

Replied to your PM on installing the springs without a motor. I am in with the Pro Kit and Koni Crowd, both my third gen birds have that setup. I paid 220 for the springs, 620 for the shocks. Trick on the shocks is to wait til spring when they go 20% off. I know you already decided but just putting my two cents in. It is a harsh ride with the above setup, it responds to every imperfection in the road. But get it on a smooth ribbon or on the interstate and its just awesome.
