Hotchkis 25%off vs UMI 15%off

Hotchkis LCA+Adjustable panhard bar for 404+shipping http://www.hotchkis.net/8202_gm_fbod..._pckg_red.html

UMI LCA(dual roto-joints)+Adjustable Panhardbar for 361+shipping
http://www.umiperformance.com/catalo...roducts_id=363

My question is why is the hotchkis more expensive? is it really better, or are we just paying more for there great reputation?

Looking at the pics of the two items the hothckis pieces look a little stronger. Could just be my imagination tho.(take a look for yourselfs in the links)

Anybody have either of these? Are the roto-joints really that great?

Can the hothckis bushings be switched out for the del-alum?

What do you guys think?

I would go with the UMI set because the LCAs are adjustable, though not on the car.

So at the end of the day are all these pieces the same? Only they have a different company name stamped on them? With the exception of a few different designs & gimmicks?

The Hotchkis stuff is a ripoff. You couldn't get me to run poly bushings for free. The delrin lined joints from Spohn / UMI are the bomb. They are quieter, smoother, less deflection than poly. And they don't need to be greased.

Yes, these days there isn't much difference other than price. It might be a different steel or weld, which may, maybe, make a difference in your choice if you are make lots of power. For most street cars though, anything is better than the stock stamped steel. UMI, Spohn, and BMR are known to offer discounts if you buy lots of parts but founders is the cheapest individualy. I have founders, UMI and Spohn on my car and the build quality on all is great.

UMI has good stuff. Just like Tibo, I have a mix of stuff on my car (Spohn, UMI, JM, Founder's) and all seem to be simular quality.

There's been plenty of threads and discussion on poly vs delrin bushings.

Well said. They all do the same job they are designed to do. Its a matter of personal preference these days. Back in the 90's when hotchkis was the only one with stuff I bought a COMPLETE 3rdgen kit for my 92, I got Springs , lca, phr, sfc , etc. Was a nice kit.

Now I have Spohn stuff only because I got a good deal on a trade for stuff I didnt need anymore. Only thing Im gonna be picky about on design now is a kmember and a-arms.

Re: Hotchkis 25%off vs UMI 15%off

Hello,

Thanks for considering the UMI product line!

Hotchkis makes nice items, there is no doubt about it. We do feel their pricing is a bit high and we also feel our quality is just as good.

The two kits you are looking at are different item, kind of like comparing apples and oranges. The Hotchkis kit uses poly bushings while the UMI kit you posted has Roto-Joints. Our Roto-Joint is a unique design and is expensive to manufacture.

The UMI kit that is most similar to the above Hotchkis kit is #201529 and priced at $195! It can be seen here- http://www.umiperformance.com/catalo...roducts_id=346

If you would like to learn more about out Roto-Joints please go here- http://www.umiperformance.com/catalo...age=roto_joint

If you have any questions please ask, you would be very pleased with the UMI quality.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Ryan
