Rear Sway Bar Bushing 92 RS
My car is a stock V6 RS. I measure the rear sway bar at 18mm and everything I find in a search here says stock is 18mm. But, looking for new bushings and everybody seems to list only 19mm bushings. Anybody know where I can get 18mm bushings or will the 19mm bushings work fine without being too loose. Doesn't do much good to put in new ones if they end up being loose.. Going to pull it apart and replace all the rear bushings (control arm bushings too), coil springs, and change the fuel pump out so want to round up all the parts first and do everything all at once. Thanks..

Re: Rear Sway Bar Bushing 92 RS
I would encourage you to take another measurement of your rear bar. All of my records are showing 19mm as the smallest bar size for the rear on those cars. Best way is to get an 18mm crescent wrench and a 19mm crescent and see which one fits over the bar. Anyway, I was able to locate what you might be looking for on an Energy Suspension site I always refer our customers to. The prices are excellent.

Let me know what you come up with. There is a chance you may not have the original rear bar on your car. If you conclude that it is indeed an 18mm bar, call up energy suspension. I'm sure they have one that works.

Re: Rear Sway Bar Bushing 92 RS
Checked the measurement three times and I am using calipers. Measurement is 17.9mm consistently so 18mm. The above thread lists an 18mm for the 92 v6 RS. I have owned this car since 93 and bought it with 20,000 miles. I doubt the rear bar was changed in the first 20,000 miles. I have never changed it. ES didn't show an 18mm.

That was what I was thinking too since nobody seems to make an 18mm. I was trying to decide between the 11/16" (17.5mm) and the 19mm. What concerned me was if the factory had put in the wrong bar (ran out of the correct ones) when it was built.

Just a quick bump.. Has anyone found an 18mm bushing that will work??????? I am surprised there isn't an aftermarket 18mm specifically for the RS. I have seen a lot of them now in the pull a part yards and all have the 18mm bar.. Have found a Prothane 18mm that looks close but don't know if it will work yet or not...
Daily driver so staying with the softer ride but did go to urethane bushings in the rear (except can't find an 18mm for the sway bar)... By the way, they do squeak even though they were greased with the stuff supplied from Energy Suspension with the bushings....

Use the 11/16".
The difference between that and 18mm is a shade under .020"; about the thickness of a business card. I.e, if the difference is HALF THE THICKNESS of such a card. About the thickness of a sheet of heavy copy paper.
Talk about "measure with micrometer, mark with chalk, cut with axe".... this surely is a good example.
DON'T use one that's too large. The bar will constantly rattle around in it, and you'll spend the rest of the time you own the car trying to figure out what the strange banging noise is every time you drive over roads that are smooth on one side of the car but rippled on the other.
I've got a half-dozen cars sitting in my driveway right now with those bushings in em, both ends... NOT ONE sqweeeeeeks. I don't even know how to MAKE EM sqweeeek.
OF COURSE there's not some "universal" part made "specifically for" your car, or for anybody else's. That's why they make "universal" ones in incremental sizes" that way, it fits EVERY car, just like it does yours.

Well, sounds like the 11/16" is the best way to go if I can find them again..
I used plenty of the silicone grease and the diff has been powder coated so they rub on a smooth surface (maybe too smooth). Going over bumps both sides squeak on the control arms. Maybe it will get better with time but very noticeable right now.. More of a squawk than a squeak....

Use the "greasable" bushings. Keep em packed. Personally I use regular Mobil1 red grease, no sqweeeeeks on any of my cars & trucks that are so equipped and maintained.
You can always order em from Summit et al. if they're not hanging on cards in the aisle at the store down on the corner.

Re: Rear Sway Bar Bushing 92 RS
The ones currently making the noise are the control arm bushings and those don't come in greaseable. Also, the 11/16 inch urethane bushings don't come in greaseable either that I can find...
