is my k member bent?

My passenger side front tire is pushed back 1/2"-3/4" inch farther than the driver side. I cant see anything obviously bent, I had the a arms off over the winter for new bushings and ball joints and they looked fine. the only thing I can think of is maybe the rear pocket for the a arms is bent a little. does anyone know how I could tell, or maybe have any other ideas? thanks

Re: is my k member bent?

The rear control arm mount for the k member are spot welded onto k member in like 3-4 spots IIRC I've seen som crack along the welds

Also check to see is strut isn't bent some way but I doubt it ..

Only other issue is frame is bent like stated above

How did you measure this?

I assumed you trammed the car and checked the wheels for being in a square, right? Not just compared them to the fenders or to some similar randomly shaped piece of trim?

Re: is my k member bent?

My first thought was that the new k member could be off from manufacturing and not "bent.". Was this disproved already?

Re: is my k member bent?

I measured the wheelbase using a measuring tape, driver side is 101" and passenger side is less. the welds are definately not cracked. its not a new k member. the k member did seem a little farther back on the passenger side, so I loosened the bolts and pried it out a bit but I only got it to move like 1/8". Perhaps a good question is, if it seems to drive fine is it a problem?

Re: is my k member bent?

I guess I am confused. Is this a new or new to you K member or is it your stock K member?

Re: is my k member bent?

too much caster on the one side will move the wheel back farther than the other side... and did you measure to make sure that the rear end is in the car square?

So, how do you know the front wheel is the one that's moved?

What are the "square" measurements? (RF - LR, LF - RR)

How is the car aligned? You ARE aware of course, that in these cars, adding caster, moves the wheel rearwards?

Re: is my k member bent?

I think I fixed the problem, or at least mostly. I noticed the k member was closer to the subframe on the passenger side, so I loosened the k member bolts and pried it forward a bit on the passenger side, now the passenger wheel is only 1/4" farther back, which could possibly be fixed with an alignment. If not its probably close enough.
To answer sofas questions, I figured it was the front moved because it wasnt in the middle of the fender (I know bad reference) and the front would be more likely. Would a bad alignment cuase 3/4" difference? I know it would move it a little, but the ball joint doesnt move so really how far can caster move it?

ALOT.

Look at the slots on top of the strut tower... it can move THAT MUCH.
