Shock opinion

Ok guys my search function isn't functioning. So I need advice on shocks. The car isn't a dd and I want some better preforming shocks. I've recently added subframe connectors and I have Lakewood lcas (freebies) and ill be ordering an adjustable panhard in a couple weeks. Car has eibach sport lines under it and the shocks and struts are next on the list. Just as a weekend warrior and play toy what would be a good shock for handling and the occasional red light launch

Buy the best you can afford.
Bilsteins you only have to buy once, when they wear out, send them back for rebuild.

Bilstein and Koni are accepted as the best and are often seen on high end and competition cars.

Kyb are great budget brand. Dint see them on many high end builds though.

besides koni.. what ARE the high end shocks/struts for the thirdgen? if seen some stuff that one might be able to be modded and stuff like the QA1's but other than that?

I'm not sure if penske & Afco make double adjustable (With separate reservoir) S&S for our cars, but I think Varishock does. Or at least they used to.

Once you get into Double adjustable S&S it's going to be more and more a track car than a street car. That doesn't mean it's not streetable. However you really do have to spend a good day to day and a half at the track to get them adjusted right for your car.

I see a lot of people on here not adjusting their Koni's (single adjustable) at a track like they should. I can tell you it took me a good 5 hours to get my Koni's adjusted to where they feel best; and they are only single adjustable. I can also tell you those hours were fun and WELL SPENT! After proper adjustment there's definitely a noticeable difference around the corners, on the track and on the street.

By the way; Koni has EXCELLENT Double adjustable S&S; they just don't sell the double adjustable versions for our cars... yet. Try emailing them, they may just pull the trigger and start manufacturing them for us. They do after all make pretty decent sales on Third gens (I know a lot of 3rd gen owners who have Koni's)

Anyways Here's a set of double adjustable rear's from Koni that will install on our cars without modification:

They are listed for fourth gens but they will interchange on third gens. (Same rear set up)

All they would need to do is build a set of DA front struts and we would all be on our way. For them this would not be hard. Either that or we could use DA koni strut inserts.

Double adjustable.
UMI, for one, sells them.

it has been talked about. but there are a few things that will cause an issue... one, is that fact the the weight is diffrent so the valving will need to be changed... two would be the upper and lower mounting points.... the lower one is very close if not the same... the upper one will need to but custom made

does the upper need to be extended or shortened?

I have the prokits and gr2's front and gas-a-just rears. I don't have sfc's for now, but when they'll come and once the gr2's are dead I think I will upgrade to koni yellows.
my findings are that koni yellows at the softest settings are equal to the bilsteins. I love the bilstein hd, but they are not marketed for lowered cars, only heavy duty replacements for stock heigh cars. they only have a rear sport one for lowered cars.
I can definately tell my car needs more dampening in front which the gr2's simply can't provide. $90 gr2's vs $500 kony yellows... I thought I'll just go thru a set of gr2's b4 I'll be able to raise this kind of dough

its how the strut mounts to the body that is the problem, if i remember right, the entire design is difrent, not that it cant be done but its not just a suyple bolt in deal
