Steering Box Upgrade
I am replacing my shaft most likely with astro shaft but while i was putting the new shaft and baring in i was wondering if it would be wise and make an improvement to clean my steering box or replace and which would make a bigger difference and by how much all answers appreciated.

Re: Steering Box Upgrade
There are some expensive upgrades available, but have seen a lot of complaints that the new boxes aren't any better and sometimes worse.
Probably the best thing you can do is rebuild your stock box, or at least try and reset the preload on the input shaft. I have rebuilt a couple of these boxes for jeeps and fbodies, and they come out better than new, takes most of the slop out that you prob have now.
The key is having the low range inch/pound torque wrench and adapter for the plug face on the box. This will allow you to set it properly.

Don't know, I got it from eBay. I'll see if I can find the tool number for you.
