Swapping between an 84 Z28 and an 89 RS
Swapping between an 84 Z28 and an 89 RS
Hello everyone! I've got some questions about interchanging some parts. I've got an 89 RS that was originally a V6. I now have an 84 Z28 with a crate 350 with a 700r4 (I believe. I haven't had time to put it in a shop and get under it.) behind it. The Z28 has 0 interior or wiring and has some pretty bad spots on the body so my question is this: will the 84 Z28 front suspension and rear axle swap into the 89 RS without too much hassle so I can drop the crate 350 in? Any insight into this problem would be appreciated!!

Pretty much, yup.
Good opportunity to replace the wore-out antique stock stuff that doesn't last; all 4 springs, struts, & shocks, in addition to ball joints, bushings, tie rod ends, idler arm, and of course sway bar bushings & links.
If the 84 has disc brakes, keep the 89 axle. Prolly has better gears anyway unless the 84 is a L69 car (VIN code G).

I appreciate it! I figured they would but I just wanted to get some other opinions! I will definitely make those upgrades and the Z28 is an L69 which is what got me thinking about swapping axles since they're both drum brakes on the rear anyways.
