To all autox and road racers: What pads do you use?
I need to upgrade my pads.Just curious on your thoughts and opinions and what you guys use. I was thinking about the Hawk pads. What about the Green Stuff/EBC? I'm looking for pads that I can use hard on the street as well as on a road course. I already have slotted rotors and cooling ducts to help with the fading. Now I just need a little more grabbing power w/o having to change the whole system. Thanks for any input.
I autox my IROC and go to as many open track dates as I can afford. I've only owned the car for 14 months and my last track date destroyed some things in the braking system... It is stock.
The previous owned apparently put the cheapest pads he could find in the car and they pretty much desintegrated. In addition, I warped the rotors...
So I got the rotors turned and now have the carbon-metallic NAPA pads on there. I really haven't had a chance to see how much better they are.
My dad uses the Green Stuff in his Vette (he wins alot more than me) and says that they are much better. I have driven his car in anger, but never without the Green Stuff, so I can't comment on how much better they are...
Try www.sccafourms.com for some additional views (there are two recent Camaro national champions crusing that board).

I use Performance Friction Carbon Metallic "Z" rated pads from Autozone. Once you get some heat in them they grab pretty good, kinda scarry if they are cold, but for the price they are fine for me.
I am only autocrossing the car right now and in the process of possible brake upgrade from the tiny factory brakes.

We use Ferodos on the race car, not sure if they even make brakes for camaros though. I have a friend racing Corvettes though and he uses Hawk pads.

Ive tried Performance Friction Z rated and Green Stuff on my Baer Racing equipped Transam.
The green stuf are great for day to day driving but for severe duty performance,i think the Z rated would take a lot of beating.the hotter they get,the better they like it
Be like me,keep both and change them over to suit your driving

Give Carbotech a call. 954-493-9669. They make their own compounds and they also carry Hawks. I have been autocrossing on a set of their pads now for 2 years and have no complaints. (this also incudes everyday use). I will be getting a new set before this season begins.
