Loud clunking in rear end
Hi guys, I am having a problem with my 91 Camaro. I recently had a shop go through my front and rear end suspension and replace the ball joints, control arm bushings, shocks and struts, tie rod ends/sleeves, stabilizer link, idler arm, track bar, and torque arm bushings. After this was all done, I drove the car for a few days no problems until this loud clunk developed from the rear end. It really sounds bad when coasting to a stop light or letting off the gas. It doesn't happen as much when accelerating or on the highway. I took it back to the shop and they said the shocks (KYB) studs were half an inch too short and were not secured tight enough, causing the noise, so they replaced them with Monroe shocks. I left the shop again today and half way home the same noise started again. It is a very loud and scratchy clunking noise and you can feel it through the floor. Has anyone experienced this problem? Could there be an issue with something else that was installed? Possibly the wrong torque arm bushing? I am at a loss and my shop seems lost as well, any insight would be a great help, thanks. -Chris

Re: Loud clunking in rear end
Sounds like the torque arm bushing.
Get up under the car and look closely at everything. It's probably somewhat obvious.
