So i started working on my 1983 T/A WS6 recently "project Fugly". I wanted to do some chassis work before paint and one of the first things on order was cutting the rear bump stops!!! I think this is one of the few times it's ok to brag about 2"!!!!
None. I went right up to the spring pocket . The coil over spring support plate covers the complete radius of the spring pocket. I'm using 1/4" steel plates to patch things up with. So these Spohn coil overs have a giant bolt at the top. For better strength we're not using the shock rubber bushing at the top of the coil over. So with the rubber bushings out of the way we made a steel bushing that fits in the chassis hole and just large enough for the coil over bolt to go through. The area on the chassis where this bolts up had to be flattened as well. I cut a large washer to fit the top.
I'll get more pics of the buckets when they're done.
Thats awesome. How wide of a rear wheel will you be able to clear?
I'm trying to go with a 18x10.5 wheel with as little back spacing as possible so as to get a DEEEP DISH wheel back there. I may shorten the rear end depending on how things look after i mount it back up.
So i got a Eastwood fender roller that should help with the fender lip. With the 2" removed with the bump stop, i should be able to put a 26"x12.5" tire under the fender without rubbing. I'm using Spohn coil overs in the back so i will be able to adjust ride height!
I don't know if I'm not following what you're doing but a 10.5" rear wheel with a 295 or 305 rear tire will get hung up on the bump stops (the inner sidewalls will hit them) unless you pretty much remove them (make that area flat), at least they did on my '83 and both my '87's.

Reread the first post and look at the picture. That is the bump stop removed.
