Replacing shocks, springs and other rear suspension parts on my '83 LG 4... Looks like somebody jacked it up by the panhard bar at some point! I hope the driving around I have done with it bet like this didn't do any damage to the drivetrain or rear axles, etc
Anyway, I did some looking around and it seems founders suspension parts are both decent quality. I don't know that I need anything adjustable, I just do very basic non-abusive driving and the car is totally stock.
Anyway, thanks for looking.
Glad to know I’m not the only one to have a panhard bar looking like this. I for one know how my got bent. Only took a night of drunken shenanigans 20+ years ago. Stuck car somewhere it shouldn’t have been. Thankfully a drunken friend with a tow strap nearby lol
I know how I destroyed mine one time... I went to put a radio station back on the air after something happened to their transmitter, and their parking lot was covered in a sheet of black ice... on the way out I sort of slid off of the road crown of their driveway in a curve and curbed my car... my Panhard bar looked about like that photo up there except without the jack marks. The car drove TERRIBLE. I had a little step bro who worked at a Chevy dealer, who got a new one and welded acoupla small plates onto it to box it in. AMAZING how much better it was. Not too long after that I bought the set of the cheeeeeep Lakewood LCAs; non-adjustable or anything like that, just, about 100 TIMES STIFFER than the stamped rubber stock crap. Made a similar difference.
The readily available aftermarket parts are SO MUCH BETTER than the stock crap, it's amazing. While I've never used Founders myself I've looked at their offerings and they look to be a serious alternative. Same for UMI and lots of others. I've used Spohn acoupla times too and liked his stuff. Not everything everybody makes is best for everybody, but it's great to see people at least trying. Glad to see people contributing to our enjoyment.
