Flex in aftermarket camber/caster plate?

Flex in aftermarket camber/caster plate?

I’m working with the vendor who has had great communication so far but I thought someone else may have run into this or something similar before.

This is what happens when I swing the spindle from left to right.

This video is with the nut torqued down (50ftlbs)

if I remove the nut there is zero binding. No flex in the plate but the shock shaft does move up and down a bit in the bearing.

Remove them. Look for my thread abput my 82 ta 87 iroc or gerrutcamaros car. I showed how to install a koni bumpstop and rancho boots to do away with the plastic sleeve

Holy cow! How do you hold alignment angels driving down the road with that thing moving around like that? Am I missing something here?

I haven’t had it on the road yet, just getting it together. I haven’t verified, but it seems like the shock shaft cover is causing the bearing to bind up. I’m hoping I can modify the cover to move it an inch or so down the shaft to fix the issue. I will update the thread when I fix it.

Thanks. I read the linked threads from Twin Turbo.

Hard to believe that flimsy little plastic dust cover can create the kind of pressure it would take to flex that whole mount, without destroying itself within a few turns.

I'm probably missing something basic here.

The cover has a pretty thick steel washer up.top

That's right. There are NO aftermarket designed strut mounts that will work with the plastic covers the new struts come with. I completely forgot about that.
