Trying to ID frame

I purchased a 1957 C3100 Pickup and was told it is on a Camaro frame. I have done some research and found that the steering box is forward of main frame, it has disc brakes on front, and I was told it has a 700R4 transmission. So I believe it is 3rd Gen. Now that's all fine. I am not a mech, I need to ID the year of the frame so I can look at some possible repair issues. Is there anywhere I might find such an ID on the frame. I appreciate any help I can get.

Re: Trying to ID frame

3rd gen F body doesn't really have a "frame". It has a unibody all the way to the front bumper, and a K-member that bolts to that from underneath. Additionally, it uses a single (lower) control arm, a strut mounted in a tower along with a spring, and no upper control arm.

Not likely to have been transplanted into such a truck.

Back in the day, the one everybody used for that, was a Nova; maybe early 70s range. It was EXACTLY the right size to just go kind of like <clip> right into the truck frame. Hardly even took any welding, it fit so perfect. That's probably what yours is. Especially if it "looks like" a normal frame and has upper & lower control arms.

Re: Trying to ID frame

Nice tri 5, picked up a 57 awhile back I’m doing a ez chassis k10 swap.
thats not a thirdgen frame or k member. Probably late 70s f body or could be first gen. Might have to identify control arms.

Thanks for the information, I will go study the undercarriage for a while. See if I can gain knowledge from what you have shared.
