Loud Clunking from 89 Iroc when turning slowly
I’ve noticed a problem with my 89 Iroc-Z
when turning slowly out of my driveway in reverse i heard a very loud banging/clunking which sounded like it was coming from the front end, I checked all my bushings them seem fine, there doesn’t seem to be any play or slop in the wheel, the ball joints are firm and don’t have any give ( they have less than 4k miles on them but they were replaced over 20 years ago) only thing I found a little play in was the tie rods so I replaced them with Moog Tie rods but the problem still persists, the idler arm has a tiny bit of play but nothing that would make a sound like I heard, the car only has 49k miles on it, I also checked my struts which are fine, I’ve noticed it really only happens when turning slowly or turning up onto sharp turns and hills, still a little new to this so any help or advice would greatly be appreciated, I plan on making the car a road trip/ semi daily and want to square away any concerns I have with the car before taking it farther distances just to be preventative

Are you at full lock while turning? If yes there is a rubbing block on the knuckle that rubs on the lower control arm. Can be very noisy.

Did you find and answer?
I’d also check engine and tranny mounts.

Hit all the zerks with a grease gun, see if that does anything.
