Eibach pro kit did not lower front need help

As the title says my Eibach lowering springs did not lower my front at all. I clocked the springs correctly and they are seated as they should be. I added new front spring insulators so the car is actually sitting 1/2 inch higher due to the thicker new insulators. Full disclosure here I bought the Eibach kit meant for a V8 and my car is a V6 so I’m pretty sure that is my problem.

question…how much coil from the bottom of the Eibach spring should I cut to get about a 1inch drop? I was thinking a full coil but wanted to check with you all first. Thanks!

That's definitely your issue, if they were stock v8 springs you'd be scraping low flying birds.

Rather than cut the eibachs, why not sell them whole and buy stock replacement V6 springs to cut?;

Cutting the eibachs is a waste of good money and good springs.

Re: Eibach pro kit did not lower front need help

I ended up doing some YouTube searches on how much to cut the springs. Found multiple videos saying the same thing so this is what I did to achieve my desired front ride height.

First install your springs, drive your car and give it a full day to settle. Take measurements and determine how much lower you want to go. For me it was a full inch lower.

second. I removed the passenger front spring and measured the height of the spring with the flat surface of the spring on the ground/ level surface so the bottom of the spring is oriented up. I wanted to lower the car 1 inch so I took half of that, measure and marked where there was a .5 inches of spring drop which for me was a little less than half a coil. I made my cut and reinstalled the spring and dropped the car.

I could visibly see that the passenger front was lower. I went over to the driver side and to my surprise the driver front was now lower too. I confirmed this with measuring the height and knowing that the suspension needed to settle again after jacking up the car I decided to give give the car another day on the ground to settle while driving the car like normal. The next day I took new measurements on the driver front and determined I need 1/2 inch drop to match the passenger front.

third, I removed the driver front spring and measured the height of the spring and again marked where I had a 1/4 inch of spring drop. I made the cut which was about 1/4th of a coil.I reinstalled the spring and dropped the car.

things were looking pretty even now and after another day of letting things settle I took measurements again and here are the results .

Before.

Driver Front 27 1/2”
Passenger Front 27 1/2 “

After.

Driver Front 26 5/8”
Passenger Front 26 5/8”

I got nearly my desired 1” drop. I did replace the rubber insulators for new ones so as they wear in I suspect the car will drop some so I’m pretty sure I’ll get that full inch drop over time.

So general rule of thumb. Determine how much of a drop you want and remove half of that from your coil. Just remember you are measuring coil drop. If you want to lower your car 1” you aren’t cutting 1/2 an inch off your coil but you are removing 1/2 an inch of coil drop. I hope that is clear.
