Centrelink not straight with k member

Any help is greatly appreciated. I've been working on an 85 camaro with a 305 tpi, which im swapping with a 383. I've had the car for less than a year. I pulled the motor and noticed from the top of the engine bay, looking down that the centerlink isn't straight with the k member. The passenger side inner tie rod knuckle is about 1/2" from the k member, and the drivers side tie rod knuckle is about 1". Car drives straight as an arrow. Doesn't pull left or right at all. Turns like crap but I've read that this is normal for 3rd gens. I figured that the k member or subframe could be bent. Found the posting of the measurements to take to see if the frame was bent and all measurements were spot on, when measured with the tram gauge. I realized that the centerlink isn't symmetrical at each end. Is this giving the look like something isn't aligned properly? K member looks straight. There are no obvious signs of damage anywhere. My question is, is this normal. Any help is greatly appreciated. Moog centerlink in the car and proforged centrelink on the table. Same geometry. Acdelco idler arm. Steering components were replaced about 6 months ago. Had alignment done, and the mechanic said he had no issues with the alignment. Dont have the specs of that, unfortunately. Thanks

Re: Centrelink not straight with k member

There is a thread somewhere covering the idler arm issues. Most replacements are the wrong part and it causes problems.

Here it's only a few down.

Re: Centrelink not straight with k member

I did install the acdelco part #45C1065 . That everyone says is the correct part. Weather it was the proper part sent in the box I'm not sure beings it came from Amazon. I've measured from grease fitting to grease fitting on both the idler arm and pitman arm, and they are the same length. If you look at the centerlink in the pic, i posted it's about a half inch back on the passenger when layed on a flat surface. So in theory it would sit the same way when installed. Just at a loss as to what to do next. I have read everything I can find about this idler arm issue with no luck in figuring it out. Thanks for the reply

Re: Centrelink not straight with k member

Is tye centerlink level? The idler can adjust up and down, going up will move it away from the K-member.

Yes the idler arm is level with the pitman arm. I can adjust it from top to bottom and doesn't seem to move it back from the k member
