Sway bar end link bushings gone

So heard a clunk while turning left and saw the sway bar end links are both toast. Driver side top has completely gone, and passenger side ones are all cracked / dried out.

figure it’s worth upgrading all the sway bar bushings and end links to Poly bushings while I’m here. Is there anything I need to be aware of?

Re: Sway bar end link bushings gone

Also what’s the diameter of the factory sway bar?

It has a f41 and ws4 code. So is that 32 mm?

Re: Sway bar end link bushings gone

It's easy. The only potential hassle is if the end-link bolts are rusted. If it's real bad, they might have to be cut off.
Just get all new hardware...

Re: Sway bar end link bushings gone

  1. remember the orientation of the thru bolt.
  2. Coat threads with some PB Blaster and hit them with a wire brush on a wheel on a cordless to ease removal.
  3. note the sleeve and bolt length. Some replacement hardware is not the same size.
  4. Coat the threads in some anti-seize at reinstallation.
  5. 13lb/ft
Likewise, you may want to replace the mounting insulators as well as bad as those look. Polyurethane replacements are nice.

Re: Sway bar end link bushings gone

I ordered new Energy suspension ones from Rockauto.

They didn't have the greasable ones though.. Is it worth installing grease fittings into the brackets?

Only if they're noisy.
You can also wrap some Teflon tape around the bar under the bushings...
