Compressing rear brake piston...HELP!!!
OK- Someone posted a question about this the other day, and I thought all my problems were solved...but they're not.
I got the "tool" that is supposed to rotate the piston. I went to change the brakes today and I find that the piston only has a hex wrench fitting, nothing close to the square-ish fitting I expected that would've fit the "tool" I bought. I do have an 89 that has the PBR rear caliper, does that explain my dilemma? And if so, what do I do now?
I realize that I can remove the Ebrake mechanism and do it that way, but twice now I have been defeated, and I must conquer GM/haynes manual(
) by doing this correctly, not by bypassing the problem...
...please help!!!

Are your calipers aluminum or iron?
If they're aluminum, then they're the PBRs. AFAIK they can be compressed with a C-clamp just like the fronts. At least, my PBRs can.

All 89's and up that had rear discs had PBR's. It might've switched in 88 but I think was 89....ANYWAY, mine are stamped with PBR, so I'm guessing that at least MY 89 has PBR's.
I can't compress the caliper cuz the e-brake pin is in the way. I keep reading that you need to rotate the piston, and that makes sense, but HOW? The "tool" everyone keeps mentioning had no where to go. The piston should have a fitting , at least to my understanding, but I only havve a hex key whole in the center of the piston. Someone's got oknow what I'm talking about!!!

Ok, I'll try this AGAIN
I CAN"T COMPRESS THE PISTON BECAUSE OF THE E- BRAKE PIN/MECHANISM. THE BIGGEST C CLAMP IN THE WORLD IS NOT GONNA HELP, UNTIL I MOVE EITHER THE PIN OR THE PISTON.
If I took the car to GM, what would THEY do?

here's a way to NEVER EVER do it ...
stick a screwdriver inbetween the pad and rotor ..
you'll DISTROY the pads ... gouge the rotor's
if you really try .. but you'll know right away if you
can compress it easily ... if you want to rotate the
piston back in ..grab it with vise grips ... these are the
methods your local ASE cerified $39 per axle shop
will use ....
