Airbags

Well,im going to with 2600lb firestone bags. The fastest 8 switch electric valves,a four gallon tank and 10 switches with f/b/s/s and pancake and seesaw. The setup,if i want to buy new is about $3500 after tax and install.THATS CANADIAN.So,the reason i need the drop spindles is so the front end will lay frame.

No offense or anything, but why? If you drive it at all, anything more than an inch and a half throws everything out of whack on the front suspension. the angles between the tie rod inner and outer ends (bump steer), you are likely to damage the shocks and struts (internal bottoming), ect.

MMMMM...Adjustable Suspension!

well, thats right, speedbumps will no longer be a problem,my car right now has only been dropped 2 inches front and back and there are some speed bumps that still tear the **** out of my undercarriage!with the bags...its not like your gonna be drivin with it slammed as near the earth as possible!they have 5" of lift!so you can drive with at stock height or whatever! Its just to the point where you can lay frame when you park becuase theres nothin cooler than a camaro layin frame!(especially when ill be tuckin my 18"s!!!)anyways,as for the airbag talk. The 4 gallon tank... is a 4 gallon air tank. That how much air you will have in reservesfor hittin the switches.Im gonna go wit 3 compressors to fill the tank because, the more compressors, the faster it will fill. The average compressor will take 3-4 minutes to fill a 4 gallon tank to 150psi.Ten switches, controll your ride height. One for each corner, the front, the back, both sides, and some others. As for the valves, they control where the air goes.Electric valves are the fastest on the market today.Origionally it was just manual pneumatic switches.Which were very slow!but thats it!i think.

-Install-$600
-Drop Spindles-$450
-Spindle Install-$150
And thats it,im gettin it done at 'Brislands Custom Shop',check out there site @ www.brislands.com

Well, ive got 18"x8"s om my car right now.(yes their nice!!! :hail: )They are Eagle Alloys series 077...i think thats the series number But im not sure what the backspacing on them is.I do know it is a positive offset rim(front wheel drive) and i do have spacers and adapters on them right now.But when i get my bags ill take off the spacers so they will nicely tuck into the wheel wells!!!

DUDE, no flack:nono:noway! There's so many of us,you can't say anybody's doin one thing.. that's the beauty. Anyway on the wheels , since I couldn't spring for the whole 17" wheel AND tire thing right now I got the lowly 16X8s. These are the Torq-Thrust IIs in fully polished form. The fronts are #5056863 w/4.75" backspace and 0.3" offset. The rears are #5056861 w/4.00" backspace and -0.45" offset. These are the only two 16X8 standard production offsets available for the 5X4.75" GM bolt pattern although they will make any offset you want for a little more $$.
I'll bring my camera's USB cable home from work and post some pics tommorrow.

Remember, if it ain't rubbin', it ain't racin'

Rimz and Tirez

Hey man, those will still look pretty damn sweet!!!Polished is the way to go!And i know all about the expensive part too...with my 18"s,the tires ran me $300 a piece! And that was just for BFGs Euro T/A's.In a 225/35/R18 size!I guess its the super low profile that jacks up the price! But anyways,if you get those pics id be glad to see em!I cant wait till i get my bags in!Those will be some pics to see!Ive had my car for a year and a half now and ive already sunk $12,000 into it!Talk about a money pit!Cya:hail:

Torq-Thrust IIs

Well, here's before the lower springs. Maybe I'll have an after photo by next week if I can get time to do shocks/springs/brakes this weekend. Can ya believe I've had this old car over 10 years now. Man, time flies! I wonder how many other RSs came with the leather interior. I've never seen another one myself.

Thanks Low. I'm green with envy about those 18s though. It's pretty obvious a low Camaro is gonna need some short sidewalls which I don't have right now but, hey, maybe next year new rollers for the RS and maybe put those 16s on that stroker/sleeper smallblock G-body in the background! Come to think of it, I think it needs the 2" drop spindles and full Pro Touring treatment....Ya gotta keep a dream. Nice talkin' to ya, remember the pics though, I gotta see'em.

Thanx

Hey dude , your car is pretty damn sweet!the thing with my car is it was origionaly just a 1985 camaro sport coupe. It had those ugly 14" rims with big balloons for tires,no body kit or spoiler and it looked like a 4X4 it was so high in the air!!!.And now,ive got the 18"s,i bought a body kit,put in the 2" drop coils with shorter shocks...but no spoiler yet Actually i got the body kit put on and
painted then when i got my car dropped,I HAD TO TAKE IT OFF!the car is so damn low with the body kit on every speed bump i come to i nearly tear off the front nose piece. So the ground effects are in my garage till i get the adjustable suspension in.Hears a couple old pics,no drop coils,or body kit.But the 18's are on!

wow sweet .... I wanted to do that a long time ago but couldn't find anyone who could make the brakets. mostly see bags on trucks but it'll b nice to see it on a camaro. best thing about em is how nice it will ride (like a caddy) but I wouldn't be taking turns @ high speeds on those .. i've heard some horror stories. oh and better make sure to install stoppers incase the system fails while you're driving 65 on the freeway and tried to lay frame. I dont think you guys need that many compressors (at most 2) and I would say go with the 1/2 inch valves if U wanna run fastbags (hold on to your beer!). go pick up some truck mags and check the adds ... soooo much parts for airbag systems avaliable .. cheap too!!

p.s. don't buy anything from A.I.M

Thanx guyz!Well,i am gonna go with the 1/2 inch lines and valve to make it fast!and i am gonna have probably two compressors.Oh...and how come dont buy from AIM?i havent before but i was wondering why?As for the spacers and adaptors, ive got adaptors on all 4 wheels,i believe they are a half inch wide.and on the rear ive got 1/4 inch spacers to give it that stagered look.once the bags go in ill have to take the spacers off to let those 18"s tuck up nicley!!!:hail:
ill give ya the measurement os the adaptors when i check the box in my garage later!cya

Decent graphics work FiRe I think it looks great.
If you look around, all wheels are pretty damn unorigional. Besides, the torqs are about as old as I am thank you very much.

yes its mine ( the silver one )( Thank You ). The hood is a unlimited fiberglass 2-1/4" cowl hood. And for suspension all I have is Eibach sprotline springs in the back and in the front I have global west springs off an 95 Impalla SS ( wanted very stiff springs ) and cut them down to the height I wanted.

Also if you decide to go with a non air or hydro suspension check out MR IROCS web page. He has a bad a$$ suspension in my opinion and his cas is just amazing ( espically in person ).

Racereno, I think your car looks great with the Torqthrusts. I was going to get the II's in 17x8's, but was too cheap to fork over the three extra bills. I'm getting old, so I still like the older styles that they are now making more modern. ALso, Thanks for posting my pics.

Hey turning , I'm an old hot rodder at 45 so I know what you mean. If I would have needed tires too I would have gotten the 17s. Lord knows I wanted 'em bad but like I said this setup can always be used on my old G-body when I step up (or would lower) on the RS.

Hey, you guys keep my enthusiasm alive!

There's lots of aftermarket hoods out there and I would imagine with the proper prep they'll all do good. As far as Harwood goes, they've been around for a LONG time.

If you've noticed the other thread with pictures looking out (or trying to) with the 4-4.5" cowl hood I think its safe to say if you don't really need the height don't buy it.

And remember... If you drive don't park, accidents cause people.

Racereno, you got a some time on me, I'm closer to 30 than 20, but I was born in the wrong decade. Ten years earlier and I would fit in perfect for my age, from music to cars to ethics. The only thing I got going is I always hung out with the older folk and my pasion for cars started when I was 12 (About 20 years ago when I saw my friends much older brother doing big smokey donuts in a 1970 Elky).
About fiberglass, stay away from Unlimited's products, from personal experience, they are flimsy pieces. Almost any glass product will flex and distort at highway speeds though.

I have a Unlimited cowl hood and mine is great. Its strong light and no extra work needed. Maybe you got a bad one or I got a good one . Any one else have Unlimited? I would like to hear some oppinions on them so I know to recomend them to friends or not.

Also thanks RaceReno and LowCamaro, I like my car too, But I just enjoying it while it last, car show in a couple weeks, Im gonna sell it there.

Maybe you should start a thread to see who has what brand hood, where they got it, and how much it cost. I'd be glued.

Nah, I was just thinking about a general hood survey for posts including manufacturer, cost, place of purchase, and now that you mention it, style/size.

The paint is Silver Mist Mettalic, I think its PPG paint. Its a decent paint job. I got it painted at Miracle Paint and Body in Dublin Ca. Its a sick color ( its almost like a primer look ) I love it. Also if you guys cared or not I jsut decided what I going to buy after the Maro- http://www.holden.com.au/app/serve?p...&cartype=18001
Its coming to america in 2003 as a Pontiac GTO. LS1, Six speed, BMW like interior and more. I cant wait

WOW

I was just lookin' at this thread again and realized that we've covered a lot of territory here! This was one of my first threads after coming to ThirdGen and I totally love it. I've meet a bunch of great car people here and think we ought to just let this thing have a life of it's own and go wherever it wants 'til the powers-that-be say Last Call.

However I don't want to forget what brought us here..Gettin it on the Ground. I put my springs on (well all but the right front and I'll do it tommorrow) and man it looks great but the bad boy is so low I can't even get a jack under it from the side sooo... you KNOW I want to hear more about the adventures of the Adjustably Suspended.

So while we let this thread live on, if anybody can enlighten us on Low-down-but-gettin'-high-when-I-need-to how 'bout starting a How Low Can You Go - the Sequel.

Later Ya'll
