tire rubs, but where?

Mine rub too. When I make hard turns my tires (245/50 R16s) rub on the plastic liners on the front. I'm not to worried about it.

I bearing is toast, maybe. Driving down the road, does the sound come and go as you turn left/right? Also check for chopping on the tires--that will make the 'offroad mudder' tire noise.

I bearing sound gets softer and louder as you turn. A bad left bearing will get lounder if you turn right and softer if you turn left. A hum really sounds like a bearing. The front bearings should be repacked every 30000-40000 miles. Replaced if they are noisy. If it's not that, I would take the wheel off and see if it has been touching anything--look for cleaned off spots or worn spots on the wheel/tire. Then spin the brake rotor and see if it's hitting it's shield.
If the tire and wheel aren't hitting anything while you car is at rest I can't see how it could hit anything while you are moving.
edit:
If I could drive it I could tell you with one trip around the block. Find a 'good' shop or mechanic and see if they will give you a free estimate--most will.
