Front Tubular A-Arms & Spring Isolator
Front Tubular A-Arms & Spring Isolator
I am rebuiling my suspension and am interested in putting front tubular a-arms. Does anyone know which company makes a good pair?
I am putting eibach lowing springs in as well. I have heard of putting mustang spring insolators to lower a bit more. What is this really for? Has anyone done this? What is the part number? Thanks!

I ordered a set of PA tubular a-arms from Thunder Racing (one of the thirdgen.org supporters) but have not received/installed them yet.

Hey Say'n Somthin got your email. No haven't received them yet, manufacturer said they were shipping them out on Thu 3/28 so that should put 'em on my doorstep Mon 4/1. That's a total of 18 days from order to delivery but I learned it's because the a-arms are custom built to order. You can by them direct from PA but I thought I would get them from a thirdgen.org supporter, price is the same anyway. I'll post again on completion.

Hey Say'n Somthin I got those PA Racing tuba a-arms last week.
I put them on this weekend and everything went smoothly. They seem hefty enuf but I still want to see how they fare in the long run. Although the arms appear to be made more for "racing" springs (flat on both ends) they had no trouble accepting my Hotchkis springs. The arms come with poly bushings and a new ball joint. David 91RS/Z28 tells me Thunder Racing had his a-arms in stock when he ordered them and it took only four days so I must have hit them when they were out of stock. Go figure.
My factory spring isolators are simply a thin padding to prevent metal-to-metal rubbing (thus rusting) in the upper spring mount. I taped them to the top of the new springs before installation.
I replaced the rotors, calipers/pads, and outer brake hoses while I was in there and am currently waiting on a new Pheonix Injector Brake/clutch bleeder w/Smart Pak then I'll road test. Cya soon.

racereno: did you take any pic's of the tubular arm installed on your car? I would like to see some if you did.
Do you think the tubular arms are good for everyday street use? Or is your car mostly for track use? Thanks...........

Tom I didn't take any pix yet but I'll pull the wheel this week and get you a shot. As to their longevity under street conditions, the jury's still out. I guess I'll find out, that's why I reconditioned the stock arms and put 'em on standby.
