Suggestions for my disc/drum situation?
I have an '89 IROC Convertible with discs front/drums rear. I'd certainly prefer to get large upgraded discs all around. This car will be with me for a long while, so I'd like to do it right.
I've been searching the forums looking for answers, and now I figured I'd ask the question since I can't find the answer.
Let's assume, money is only a small issue. I'm not crazy about spending $2000 on a brake system, but I'd entertain a $1000 upgrade.
What to get? Is it best to go to Baer or SS Brakes or Wilwood?
I was going to put in new gears at some point only so I can give this L03 some more life. I'm not into racing, I just want more get-up-and-go than this engine and rear end can give me.
Perhaps I should just buy a whole new rear end ready to roll with the gears and discs, and then upgrade the fronts.
Thoughts?

For the rear, try looking into getting a fourthgen rear with disc brakes, they are fairly plentiful and if you look enough, you'll probably find a good one. I've seen a lot of them in junkyards in my area with disc brakes and 3.42 gears in the $300-400 range. I've had success with www.car-part.com as a starting point, at least. That would leave you with a decent chunk of change left over for the fronts. A 1le front brake upgrade would probably be the best value.

In the next couple of months Steve Spohn will have the caliper cages that we all need to complete the front 1LE swap. I think that the final price for the swap was ~$800. What gear ratio do you have at the moment? Keep an eye out for a disc rear on the boards so you will be able to upgrade your brakes and get a better ratio.
