Car just sitting!
Alright, I freaking out now Im in the Air Force and am TDY (temparary duty) in Germany. I let my girlfriend take care of my camaro while im away, and belive it or not she was doing a pretty good job until about two weeks ago when she tells me the battery died and the car wont start. It's a brand new 305 that has maybe 1500 miles but was daily driven the whole time and now it looks to be that it will sit there until I get back. Which will be on or around May 1st. So here's my question, what the @#$%is going to happen to it? Is sitting their for over a month going to hurt something when I go to restart it? Any precaushions I will need to take? I worried as hell ! Please tell me im overreacting! And slap some sence in to me!

well you can send her some money to get a home battery charger. It plugs into a normal wall socket and charges the battery very easy. Then she can start it up or drive it around every now and again. My dad rarely drives his car. His battery is always dying so he has one of those chargers.

Just let it sit, then when you get home, run it good, and change the oil. I've let a few of my cars sit longer than that without problems. Maybe just have her toss some Stabil in the gas until you get home. They don't start getting funny for 6 months or so.

Thanks, ill have her put some of the stabil in and just wait, I don't really have any way to get a charger for her to use. I still worry, it's my baby and I just can't stand the thought of it just sitting.

Fuel stabilizer only works correctly if the car is running so all the fuel in the LINE not just the tank is treated...
Since your battery is dead how will the car start???
Just throw a car cover on it and leave it alone, a couple months parked will not "hurt" it.

It may not help the fuel in the line, but it will keep the gas in the tank from turning to sludge and getting forced through the system next month. I've seen gas start breaking down in as little as three weeks, so it's good insurance. Whatever is in the line should be forced through with the treated gas, and shouldn't hurt.
