go to this site, you will see what speedo gears you will need http://sethirdgen.org/vss.htm
By the way, what kind of difference did the gears and posi make. I also have a 90 RS and am planning on installing my 3.73s and SLP posi this summer. THANKS

i was told that i didnt need to change the gears... just recalibrate it somehow because i dont have a speedo cable. i dunno, im gonna look into that more. as of the difference the gears made...very nice. this morning driving to school while the car shifted from first to second it not only chirped the tires but made them spin at least one full rotation. pick up is awesome. i had a burnout comntes with my friends civic and i was glad to see 2 tire marks on the pavement instead of the usual one. the thing took me a few hours to install cuz i needed to take the pinion out and put another shim on it so the teeth on the gears wouldnt make noise.

Yes, you are still going to have to change the gears. These cars aren't quite like the new cars. You can't go changing gears and then recalibrate the speed in the car's computer. The 700R4's (At least from what I have seen when I replaced my transmission) is that regardless weather they have an electronic speedo or cable driven one, they still use the gear teeth. Just the difference between the cable one, and the electronic one, is that the electronic one can pick up the pulses off the teeth and then determine the speed. But it is basically a dumb unit, and that is all that can be done. It doesn't have any sort of recalibration controls.
Though, that is from my view, so don't take that as an "expert" opinion, because I am deffinitely not an expert on that stuff
I haven't changed the gears in my car.... yet
Yeah, and BTW, I use a cable driven speedo. So what do I know

lets say with your 3.73's, you went 85mph@2,000 rpms. With 3.73's you will go 85mph@3,000rpms.
Theres 2 gears in the speedometer, a inner and outer. I did this last week so i know about it. Since i have 3.42's and a stick shift I went to a dealer and matched them up with a v6 firebird's speedogears, and they cost like 40 bucks. Just tell them what gears you have and they can order some. Or else SLP Online carries them too i think.
Installation on a auto is easier because all you need to do is drop the tail shaft, when with a stick the whole transmission needs to be dropped. ::BLA:: Why must my car be such a punk??

Get the part numbers from the http above and go to your local GM parts counter. They may have them in stock. If not they can definately order them for you. Cost is like 10-12 dollars and the wait is only a few days compared to SLP's 7-10 days
