TBI Challenge

hey gang,
we will be getting started next week. prolly be a little slow at first with just a few local guys coming over, but with in 2 or 3 weeks we shoudl be ready to have some people down for tunign days on weekends.
a few things we are looking for:
1. soemone local with a dead stock or very very close to stock car that woudl be able to make it to the princeton, nj area on a very regular basis and go to teh track a lot to gauge gains and tune. if we can find a local to do this you will be the basis for a lot fo tech articles and budget mod testing.
2. anyoen with stock parts tha tthey woudl liek to donate to teh cause. we are looking for stock intakes, tb's, heads, rears, exhaust manifolds, control arms, panhard bars.......you get the idea. what we wanna do is have parts set up and ready to bolt on to peoples cars.

we will be working out teh details when jp gets home this sunday and i will smack it up here as soon as we figure out when we can do stuff.

later

If it's of any help, I've got my stock 350 L05 heads and exhaust manifolds for the cause.

hey Paul...you know that part number for the GM vAFPR that's been floating around? I think you should drop the $41 + shipping and get one...I think they said 18psi WOT, which may actually work for you. Not sure if your fuel pump is up to it, but I think you should give it a try. I'm even considering buying it for when I actually need it...

ill donate a slightly modified tbi intake (i think it will still fit) and exaust manifolds... Gave up on the manifold b/c it was too much of a PITA to get it to work with my older 350.

Tim, I wish you'd posted this a few weeks ago, when I threw away my stock intake

The Peformer TBI works great for me, btw.

I've got a stock TBI Intake manifold, Snorkle assembly, lower control arms, stock 2 1/4" crossflow muffler (don't know why), and some other stuff.

I'm in Long Island, NY - how far is that from Princeton? I have an '89 RS with no mods except for a flowmaster and hi flow cat.

Okay, so I'm home, just finished helping a friend (in "the barn") with his Ford SHO. Had to rip out his tranny, rebuild another tranny, install the darn thing, find out after exhaust, shifter, and EVERYTHING is back on the car, that the tranny isn't shifting (put together wrong). SO......I had another fun day of ripping out the tranny which requires unbolting everything and basically hanging the motor with a chain and rip apart the suspension. I don't start working for another week so if anybody wants to get an eprom burned this week let me know through NJSpeeder.

I'm not sure how this will affect my car but I do have a 99% stock L03 and I'm in North Jersey so getting to Princeton really isn't a problem. The mods I've done are in the sig, I don't even have the free Ultimate TBI mods done, no open element either.

The only problem might be that the car has to remain fairly reliable as it is my daily driver and I need it to get to work Mon-Fri. Let me know if thats doable and whats being planned here.

long overdue update, sorry about that.
i am finally back online and will be changing internet providers by teh end of the week. if anyone out there is considering high speed access, i woudl suggest you avoid comcast cable. they have had the account screwed up since day one and took 3 weeks to come to my house for a "service" call at which time they figured out the problem was on their end.

here is the deal, a little more tuning but still a stock convertor/chip/cam blackbird305 broke into the 15.1's at 89-90mph. his car needs just a touch of chassis tunign to reach teh 14's with only intake/exhaust/gears/relo brackets. teh final piece in teh puzzle is gonan be a good torque convertor. his car will be runnign a 2600 stall very very soon, maybe by the end of the week
jp is back in town and has done some more tunign on his car, it is now faster than it was before. we will be adjusting/fixing his brakes soon so that he can actually stall teh car up at the line and we are also gonna slap in a bigger convertor, i think it is a 2800 stall. the next trip he makes to teh track will also be on my hoosier quicktime pros so he will actually hook this time that will be a new experience for jon...hehe if he has found about 2mph he may be able to kncok on the door of the 12's or maybe squeak into them. we will see with in the next few weeks.
my car is dead in teh water again. it will not start or even attempt to. i know there are wiring problems somewhere under the dash. i am in the process ofd sorting them out, but progress is a bit slow. on a happier note, i plan to drop the heads and intake for my 400 project motor off at the machine shop for a complete porting and matching job on both...hehe

pianiy: we are gonna start doing stuff every weekend. hit me up on AIM ( NJ SPEEDER ) and we will figure out when you can come down. we can discuss a plan of action too, see haw fast we can get you by the end of the summer

anyone who wants to coem down hit me on AIM or PM me about it. we can knock out most swaps in a day or overnight(and i do mean overnight some times...hehe)

Great update NJ, can't wait to here more. Sounds like things are finally starting to take place in the great north east.

Anyone on the wrong coast have an update.

My garage is starting to take shape slowly, when it's done I'll have to fix the 86 IROC so I can drive it while I drop the 350 in the RS. Can't wait till I get to that point in time to start the RS project,it seems so far away right now.
