My mechanic is installing my lt1 cam into my 92RS camaro, and he just called and said that the lobes are 1/4inch smaller on the lt1 cam then they are on the l03 cam. is this normal? wouldnt this mean I lose horsepower??

What?! How did he arrive at this number? I can't image how one could possibly arrive at a .25" difference in lift between those two cams no matter what method you used to measure it, unless the new cam is trashed.

If he measured A, then sure, it looks like the LT1 has less lift.

B is the real story. As you can see in the illustration the LT1 cam has more lift.

I would abort the project and have another person do it.
1/4 inch is a **** load in cam terms.
Have the guy show you how he came up with that number.
